Your child is in for a time of exciting and happy adventures. Our desire is that these experiences will lead to growth in character, skills, personality and social relationships that you as a parent can see. The goal is high! It will require these items:
We are happy to have your child in The Flying “G” Ranch Day Camp Program. We trust it will be an enjoyable time for your child … and you!
Lunch and Snacks
Please put names on all lunches. Refrigeration is available upon request.
Daily Activities
A variety of daily activities will help us meet our purpose of character, personality and skill development. These activities promise to be…
Campers are all together for some activities such as Bible Studies and skits. Most activities, though, will find them grouped by age or riding skill and rotating from one program area to the next. Activities range from one-half hour to one hour in length.
Dress: Children are encouraged to wear pants and long sleeved shirts while riding however they may change into shorts and short sleeved shirts for other events. Please no shirts with photos or writing on them, no tank tops, or short-shorts. Just be prudent and dress appropriately for a Church event.
Overnighters: Children are encouraged to sleep in their regular clothes since some PJ’s may not be appropriate in tents with other children. Of course boys with boys and girls with girls with a parent camped right outside their doors.
Cell phones etc…: We ask that your children not bring cell phones as horses don’t like them much. They will not need to bring any other electronic equipment either. Everything they need will be provided.
Behavior: If your child becomes a behavior problem, we will attempt to contact you. If they are put in time out more than three times for major infractions, they will have to leave the camp without a refund. Examples of major infractions include cussing, swearing, hateful slang, lewd lascivious language, name calling or prejudicial statements, touching another child for any reason, fighting or yelling at others. Also, each child will have partner and must be with their partner at all times. Children found alone without their partner will be put in time out. Lying, stealing, cheating and demeaning others are all major infractions as well. Leaving your tent at night without the approval of an adult is a major infraction. We want everyone to have fun, be safe and get along. Those that disrupt keep others from learning. Children are not put into time out for minor infractions; they are either given chores or a bible lesson to study and share with others instead depending on the severity.
Parent’s visitation: We encourage parents to come and watch their children learn. Children often miss their parents and your participation may be a welcomed part of your child’s learning experience. There will be a parent’s night to come and see what your children have done as well as see the awards they have earned. Each child will receive a certificate of Horse Training as well as other certificates of merit or appreciation.
Insurance: Although we know that you may have your child insured and the state of Texas does not require insurance for Equine activities, please note that we take every precaution with your child, background checks are done on participants and Flying G Ranch has insurance to cover every child that participates in the unfortunate event they become injured. The horses we use are “dead broke” and will not run, buck or kick. They are considered in every aspect “child friendly.” Children are taught very much before they ever mount a horse. You can feel assured that your child will have a great time in a safe and fun environment.
